Syed Tayyab Ali Shah (STAS) born on 25th January 1981 in a family of saints of Chakwal District.
His father Zulfiqar Ali Shah was a banker by profession. STAS being the eldest and only male child of
his parent (brother of three sisters), received abounding love and care from his parents and grand parents,
who groomed him in pious religious environments.
STAS ancestors migrated from Mecca to subcontinent nearly twelve hundred years ago. In genealogy he is 42nd decedent of Hazrat Hashim (460 - 510 AD) - great grand father of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Hazrat Hashim laid foundation of Banu Hashim by uniting the scattered tribes of Kuryash. Thus emerged the Hashmi family, named as attribute to its founding father - Hazrat Hashim. He was caretaker of Khana Kaba’ and had a self assigned task of extending boarding and lodging facilities to the pilgrimages of Mecca. The descendants of Hashim were given copious surnames by the devotees. These are sometimes referred, though, erroneously as surname of the Hashmites. According to the local dialects all these titles such as; Syedna or Syed, Shah, Sheikh, Pir and Khajwa are synonymous to a revered persons. Sheikh Wajeeh-ud-Din Muhammad Ghous, 17th in Hashim’s genealogy was first of the family to migrate to the subcontinant for preaching of Islam in early 12th Century AD. He settled at Kote Krore – a humlet in District Muzaffargarh now in Southren Punjab. Later his son Shiekh Bha-ud-Din Zakeria (1182 - 1262 AD), rose to prominance. His mossulem at Qasim Bagh Multan is still a source of inspiration for scores of his devotees. Sheikh Bha-ud-Din was a pious religious and spritual scholer, a philenthropist par excellance, poet and reformist, whose teaching were equally revered by Muslim and Hindus. Sultan Al-Tamish of the Slave Dynasty revered the saint and appointed him as Sheikh-ul-Islam - a post anogolous to minister of Religious Affairs, which he held for more than fifty years. Ten generations later his progeny Syedna Sheikh Kamal-ud-Din, commonly know as Ali Katal Shah made his way in 15th Centuary AD to what is now the Northren Punjab. His son Hazrat Abu Barkat Khawja Ruken-ud-Din rose to pinncle of glory with the title of Pir Khawaja Noori. He is laid to rest at Pail (near Padrarh) – a roadside villge on Chakwal – Khushab road, about 40 km north of Khushab City. The disciples of Pir Khawaja Noori move to the Slat Range to lit the torch of Isalm. The message was carried as far away Kashmir in the north. In early 18th century AD, Pir Ruken-ud-Din Shah, descended from Salt Range to move in the suburb of Chakwal and settled in an outlaying helmet Sarkal Mair – 14 km east of Chakwal on Jhelum road. It is the ancestral abode of STAS for the past three centuries. From childhood STAS had a religious bent of mind. However his poetic and melodic talents surfaced while studying at Arid University Rawalpindi. He sang his own composed lyrics at a University function and received instant offers to join a musical group as vocalist. He declined the offer being at tangent to his family traditions. Soon he was invited to take part in a Naat congregations, which he gleefully accepted. Since then STAS has participated in numerous all Pakistan Naat competitions. His first audio album of Naats was released in 2001. His second and third volumes followed in 2005 and 2009 respectively, while his fourth volume is in the offing. An ardent devote of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), STAS added yet another laurel to his family’s rich religious traditions. In 2005-06 at the age of 24, while performing Haj, his nikkah was solemnizing with his first cousin under the shadows Gumbad–e-Khazra in Masjid–e-Nabvi at Medina - a wish which he nurtured since his childhood. Thus the newly wedded couple became the youngest couple of family to accomplish this fate. He works for a leading private enterprise as a software engineer. From the last few years he is also establishing GemStones business. He has participated in may exhibitions in Pakistan as well as in China, Thailand, Malaysia and UAE. |
